San Martin de Los Andes Excursion

This excursion will take us into Nahuel Huapi and Lanín National Parks, departing from Bariloche through the 237 national route northwards bordering Nahuel Huapi Lake up to Limay river.
Continue along the 231 national route bordering the lake’s north extreme up to Villa La Angostura through Huemul Peninsula and Manzano Port. Short stop at Villa La Angostura to get to know this beautiful village surronded by  a dense woods and imposing snowed peaks. Continue through Correntoso, Espejo Escondido, Falkner, Villarino, Babley, Machonico and Lacar Lakes.
Arrival at San Martín de los Andes, the most important touristic center in Neuquén Province, situated by the shores of Lacar Lake.
We will have time to have lunch, go shopping or visit the town on our own (about three hours).The beauty of its landscapes, the peace and tranquility that its great green extensions offer, make the visit to this place, which let you enjoy the charm of the snow in winter and the adventure tourism in summer in an imposing contact with nature, impossible to miss. 
It is the main tourist centre of the province. Its origins go back to 1883, when a fort was set up in the Vega Maipú. Today it is an active community with 18.000 inhabitants.
The city, situated between the Lácar eastern lakeside and the fertile Vega Maipú valley, is picturesque, of Alpine style, and with buildings with abundant wood and wide pavement streets resulting of an ordered outlining. 
In winter the city gets covered by snow. This is an ideal frame for the practice of ski in the neighbouring winter centre of Chapelco.
In summer, the activities are mostly carried out in contact with nature,  within the Lanín National Park, where you will find several possibilities: sporting fishing of salmonids , trekking, rafting, mountaineering, fotographic safaris, excursions in 4 x 4, etc.
With an important lodging capacity and a varied number of gastronomic establishments, San Martín de Los Andes offers a suggestive proposal of tourist services. 
Cozy restaurants specialized in deer, trouts, fondue, and international dishes; and picturesque tea houses and cafeterias, make up part of its gastronomic offer. 
This village has different accomodation possibilities for the tourism, ranging from camp grounds with an adequate infrastructure, up to cabins and hotels of varied categories Return through Cordoba Pass ( 1.200 m.a.s.l.) admiring the typical patagonian landscape.
Continuing through Traful and Limay rivers confluence, Valle Encantado, where we will see strange rocky shapes such as the Castle,  God's Finger, the Elephant, and the Amphitheatre which  looks like a Roman Circus, we will get back to Bariloche.
