BUENOS AIRES FULL DAY TOUR WITH LUNCH
HISTORICAL AND RESIDENTIAL AREAS
The tour starts at Plaza de Mayo Square. It is surrounded by the Government House, also known as the “Pink House”, which is the seat for the Executive Branch; the Cabildo (the first City Hall), and the Cathedral. Following the Avenida de Mayo avenue, we reach the Congress Palace, seat for the Legislative Branch, situated in front of "Plaza del Congreso" (Congress Square), where we can find the Monument of the Two Congresses.
We drive along 9 de Julio avenue, with the Plaza de la Republica, where the Obelisk arises as a symbol of the city. Nearby, you will see the majestic Colon Theatre, whose perfect accoustic makes it one of the best Opera Houses in the world.
Southwards, we reach the picturesque and colourful port neighbourhood of La Boca with its famous street, “Caminito”. This neighbourhood was highly influenced by European immigration, at the end of 19th century.
The visit continues towards San Telmo which keeps most of its architectonic heritage untouched. Every Sunday an antique fair is held in Plaza Dorrego.
The visit then goes on towards the modern Puerto Madero neighbourhood, with its former port warehouses, now turned into offices, flats, entertaining facilities and top-notch restaurants which overlook the "Rio de la Plata".
Lunch.
Then we are heading off to Recoleta, the most sophisticated neighbourhood in Buenos Aires. The Recoleta Cemetery, where historical personalities are buried, such as Eva Perón.
Next to the cemetery we can find the Church of Our Lady of Pilar, the Recoleta Cultural Center, the Buenos Aires Design shopping mall and the "Palais de Glace" exhibition center.
This is all framed by nice green areas with ancient trees, like the San Martín de Tours Square, Francia Square and the modern Carlos Thays Park.
