Mendoza is the capital city of the province of the same name. It was founded in 1561 by Pedro del Castillo. Located in the Northwest, at the foot of the Andes Mountains at 824masl, Mendoza is the fourth city in the country in terms of inhabitants. Its economy is based on the wine industry and its main attraction consists in visiting its numerous wineries. Mendoza is as well the entrance to Aconcagua, the highest mountain in America (6960masl), and the highest outside Himalaya Mountain Range.
