Day 2: Tilcara - Huaira Huasi

During these four days, you will pass the semi-arid environment of Humahuaca to the Yungas, more dense and wet, through a variety of phytogeography levels which every local community knows how to get the most out of it.

The Yungas are classified as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO because of their extreme biodiversity.

We suggest you go meet these local communities, accessible only by foot, between the high mountains and deep valleys.

For the first day, by car you will go to Casa Colorada, which at 3200masl will be the starting point of your trek.
The walk begins with a slow, steady climb, considering the adaptation to altitude, to reach Campo Laguna at 4170masl. This will be the highest of the crossing points. From here we can enjoy panoramic views of the Quebrada below. During the afternoon, we descent to the Waira Huasi refuge, approximately at 3200masl.

Day 3: Huaira Huasi - Molulo

During the day you leave the austere and arid landscapes of the Puna to enter gradually in the high pastures with rolling grass.

You walk along the cliffs and slopes, accompanied by the silent flight of many condors that inhabit this part of the Cordillera.
You also get some nice glimpses of the surrounding mountain ranges, varying according to snowy time of year.

You finally arrive in the Molulo community (3200masl) where you set-up the camp.
You will share your dinner with the native community under a starry and infinitely sky.

6 hours walking.

Night in tents.

Included : all inclusive, guide (hiking)

Day 4: Molulo - San Lucas

We leave the pasture behind us. The route passes through different levels of mountain forests, species diversify, and the land becomes red tropical. The path reaches a ledge and we descent until we can finally see San Lucas below.
Night at San Lucas, at 2500masl.

8 hours walking.

Day 5: San Lucas - Salta

This last day will be more and more tropical.

By a winding path we pass streams, waterfalls and caves.
We immerse in the "nube - selva" (cloud – jungle), more dense.
We refresh in the crystal clear waters of the Grande Valley River before climbing the "Peña Alta", where we finish out trek. There we wait for the vehicle that will take us to the village of San Francisco, at 1480masl.

We will have lunch there and then continue by car to the town of Libertador General San Martín crossing the Calilegua National Park.
